Back to school: How to adjust to your school routine after vacation?

Hello, young friends!

Summer vacation is almost over and I'm sure all of you had a wonderful time. Perhaps you enjoyed spending time with your near and dear ones, neighbours, or with friends. Maybe some of you travelled while others spent time doing fun indoor activities. Overall, you all must have enjoyed your vacation and are feeling a little apprehensive about going back to school from tomorrow. And you have no choice because your summer vacation has come to an end.

So, now that it's time to get back to school, why not try out some of these tips and tricks so that the transition from vacation mode to school mode is easier for you?

1. Set and follow a routine

A fixed routine is very important to help you get back on track when school reopens. I understand you might be sleeping till late in the morning and staying awake till at night during the vacation. But as soon as school reopens, you'll have to get back to your earlier routine. One of the most important aspects of establishing a routine is to set a fixed time to sleep and a fixed time to wake up every day. This can help you get the required amount of sleep, which is important to attend school and participate in your daily activities without feeling exhausted soon. And the earlier you set a routine, the better. Start from tonight so that you wake up early for school tomorrow. Along with waking up, also set a routine for studies, play, leisure activities, etc. because a fine balance of studies and extra-curricular activities is important.

2. Self-introspection

The most helpful step in rejoining school smoothly after summer vacation is to self-introspect on your summer vacation. Take some time to contemplate on what you did during your vacation. This will help you identify the areas for improvement in your next vacation. For example, if you spent a lot of time watching TV or playing video games or using gadgets such as phones/tablets or on social media, think about how you could have used that time more productively. So, you can use this self-introspection to set goals for the upcoming school days.

3. Oganise your school essentials

School essentials such as pens, pencils, books, etc. are important to rejoin school after vacation. Today, please take out some time to organise these on your own to avoid last-minute searches for these tomorrow morning. Organising your school essentials can also help you form good study habits. Use a planner to keep track of homework and tests. You can also create a homework station that has all the necessary school essentials such as pencils, pens, and paper. Having a fixed study space and school essentials can help you be more successful when school reopens.

4. Set achievable goals

Although you might feel overwhelmed when school reopens and try to do a lot all at once, please remember that it's important to set realistic goals after vacation in order to avoid burnout. Setting goals will motivate you and provide you with a sense of direction and purpose. However, while setting goals, it is important to focus on personal growth and improvement as well, rather than just focussing on getting good marks. It is also important to set both short-term and long-term goals. Short-term goals will provide a sense of accomplishment and help you stay motivated every day. Long-term goals will help you focus on the overall big picture. It is also important to set goals that are realistic and achievable as setting unrealistic goals can lead to disappointment.

5. Keep a positive outlook

Above all, keeping a positive mindset is extremely important to make the most of school after summer vacation. Stay calm and do your duties diligently and you'll smoothly transition from your vacation routine to your school routine in no time. You just need the right mindset and strategies. Positivity will help you sail through.

All the best for rejoining school tomorrow!
