As the school’s Silver Jubilee is drawing near, I’m sure each one of your hearts are filled with pride and joy for being part of such an excellent educational institution. As we all know, silver jubilee marks the 25^th anniversary of an important event such as the establishment of an organisation or the coronation of a king or queen. So this memorable milestone is indeed a moment of pride. 

Now let’s go down memory lane to know a bit about SFS. SFS School, Narengi, Guwahati was established in 1998 with 70 students in Class-I. The school is a labour of love of the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales, North-East India Province. It is a unit of the Mermier Educational Society. The school began with an affiliation to the Secondary Education Board of Assam (SEBA) but since 2010, it has been under the affiliation of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The first batch of Class-X students passed from the school with flying colours in 2008 and the school started the senior secondary section in 2011. In the beginning, Fr. George Thomas MSFS was the president of the Society and Fr. Tomy Thekkel was the first principal of the school.

Today, under the able guidance of Father George Thomas, SFS is one of the best multilingual, co-educational CBSE schools of Guwahati with a state-of-the-art infrastructure and huge prospects for students from preschool to Class-XII. Established and guided by the principles of St. Francis de Sales, the school aims to bestow high quality education and moral values amongst students. In SFS, knowledge in imparted by experienced teachers and staff in collaboration with an active parent community. Apart from focussing on academics, SFS provides scope for sports, music, community service, etc. These activities instil self-confidence, accountability, and responsibility in students from an early age so that they can become responsible future citizens.

For nearly two decades, SFS’s mission has been to bring out the greatness in every child by educating his/her mind, body, and soul. The rich, interactive, and wide-ranging course curriculum taught by qualified teachers has helped to build trust among parents and build children’s confidence. SFS offers an exceptional educational environment along with space and opportunities for young minds to inculcate a healthy scientific temper, critical thinking, crucial learning, value-driven life skills, and love for God and humanity. The focus is on stimulating learning and teaching, tailored to the needs of every individual child. The child is the core of the broad and balanced course curriculum, promoting a conducive environment for the overall development of both students and teachers. SFS is committed to changing lives through education by providing plenty of practical experience and the ability to face challenges. The children are encouraged to get involved in the exciting adventure of the learning experience through learning, discussion, and experimentation.

The vision of SFS is to impart holistic education to its human resource to mould them into globally competent, environmentally sensitive and scientifically tempered citizens with the Fransalian value of universal brotherhood.
