St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati, organised a School Bus Driver Awareness Training Programme on 24th September 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Mermier Hall. Chaired by Mr. Prakash Mech, Admin Executive – Transport, the programme was attended by 31 members of the school bus staff and was organised in collaboration with VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd., a Volvo Group and Eicher Motors joint venture. The programme was aimed at strengthening awareness among school bus drivers and reinforcing the importance of safe, responsible, and student-centric transportation practices.
The programme commenced with a prayer followed by the felicitation of the Resource Persons, acknowledging their valuable contribution towards the training programme.
The main training session focused on four key areas: safe driving practices, defensive driving skills, vehicle maintenance awareness, and passenger safety. The Resource Persons, Mr. Ajay Dey and Mr. Ranjit Choudhary, shared practical guidance and valuable insights drawn from the day-to-day requirements of safe vehicle operation.
Through an interactive and practical approach, the session encouraged the drivers to reflect on the importance of alertness, patience, discipline, responsible vehicle handling, preventive maintenance, and safety-conscious behaviour while transporting students. The training also reinforced the need for drivers to remain vigilant and prepared to respond responsibly to different situations encountered on the road.
The participation of the 31 bus staff members was encouraging, with the session providing an opportunity to revisit essential safety practices and strengthen their commitment towards ensuring secure and comfortable journeys for students.
The programme concluded with an expression of gratitude to the team from VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. and the Resource Persons for conducting the informative and practical session. The school also acknowledged the support of the management, staff, and transport personnel in making the programme meaningful and effective.
The School Bus Driver Awareness Training Programme which ended around 12:00 noon, was a valuable initiative towards further strengthening the school’s transportation safety practices and fostering a continued culture of safe, responsible, and secure student transportation.
