About The Event
On 26th January 2025, St. Francis de Sales School, Guwahati, celebrated Republic Day with immense enthusiasm and patriotic fervor. The event, held at the school’s Assembly Ground, brought together students, teachers, and guardians in a vibrant celebration of India’s democratic heritage. The program commenced at around 8:00 AM and featured a variety of performances and speeches highlighting the significance of this national occasion.
Guest Arrival and Opening Ceremonies
The celebration began with the escorting of the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Sabu Francis, Provincial MSFS, by the NCC students. This ceremonious gesture set a disciplined tone for the event. Following this, the students sang the heartfelt prayer song, I Love My India, which resonated with pride and unity. The Chief Guest was then felicitated with a bouquet as a token of respect, and the Principal, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, welcomed everyone with an inspiring message, emphasizing the day’s importance.
Flag Unfurling and March Past
The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag at around 8:25 AM, accompanied by the school band’s stirring rendition of the National Anthem. This was followed by an impressive march past by the four school houses and the school band. The disciplined and synchronized performance showcased the students’ dedication and teamwork, making it a highlight of the event.
Cultural Performances & Student Contributions
A series of patriotic cultural performances added vibrancy to the celebration. Students from Classes VI to XI presented a lively patriotic dance, followed by a speech from Spriha Sanyal of Class XI Humanities who delivered a thought-provoking speech, underlining the values of the Republic and the role of young citizens in shaping India’s future. Her words left the audience inspired and reflective. After which the younger students from Classes II to V showcased their creativity and talent through a patriotic dance drama that depicted India’s journey to freedom and its unity in diversity followed by a group song by the students of classes VI – XI. These performances captivated the audience and evoked a deep sense of pride.
Chief Guest’s Address and Conclusion
Rev. Fr. Sabu Francis addressed the gathering with a powerful and motivating speech, urging everyone to honor the values enshrined in the Constitution and contribute to nation-building. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants, organizers, and attendees for their efforts in making the celebration successful. The program ended on a harmonious note with the singing of the school anthem, symbolizing unity and the school’s commitment to excellence.
