About The Event
On the 15th of August 2024, St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati, celebrated India's 78th Independence Day with a series of events that reflected the students' patriotism and showcased their diverse talents. The event took place at the school's Assembly Ground (SFS Block), beginning at around 7:45 AM, with a well-structured program that brought together students, staff members, esteemed guests and parents as well.
The celebration started with the NCC students ceremonially escorting the Principal, Rev. Fr. George Thomas along with the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Genes Shanpliang, Manager of SFS Guwahati to the event area at 8:00 AM. This was followed by a heartfelt prayer song titled "I Love My India." The song set a patriotic tone for the day, creating an atmosphere of reverence and unity.
Following this, the Principal, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, warmly welcomed everyone, emphasizing the importance of Independence Day and expressing his pride in the students' commitment to making the event a success. Shortly after, Rev. Fr. Genes, accompanied by the school band, hoisted the Tricolour, along with the Principal. The National Anthem was then sung by all present, filling the air with a deep sense of patriotism and respect for the nation.
The event continued with a parade performed by the school band and NCC students, demonstrating their discipline and dedication. This was followed by a captivating band display where the students showcased their musical skills, earning applause from the audience.
At around 8:40 AM, Simran Shaan Islam from Class XI Humanities B delivered an inspiring speech. She reflected on India's journey since independence, highlighting the nation's achievements and the vital role of the youth in shaping its future. Her words resonated deeply with the audience, particularly the students.
The celebration took on a more artistic note at with a patriotic dance drama performed by students from Classes II to V. The drama vividly depicted India's struggle for freedom, moving the audience and earning enthusiastic applause. This was followed by a patriotic group song at 8:50 AM, performed by students from Classes VI to XI, which further ignited the spirit of unity and national pride.
The event also featured a patriotic drill dance, performed by students from Classes VI to VIII. The dance was a perfect blend of athleticism and creativity, symbolizing the strength and resilience of the nation. At around 9:00 AM, the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Genes, delivered a powerful speech, reminding everyone of the importance of preserving the values and freedoms that were hard-won by the nation's forefathers.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the anchors, where gratitude was expressed to all who contributed to the event's success. Finally, the school anthem was played at the end, bringing the ceremony to a close on a note of pride and unity.
