A special workshop was organized at SFS Guwahati School in collaboration with IIT Guwahati on 21st April, 2014 to provide valuable insights into the various opportunities available to students after completing their class 12 education. The session aimed to enlighten students and parents about the diverse engineering scopes and study options, featuring a distinguished guest speaker, Professor John Jose from IIT Guwahati.
Event Overview:
The workshop commenced at around 10.00 am with the prayer song followed by the felicitation of the Resource Person, Mr. John Jose - Associate Professor,
Department of Computer Science & Engineering Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati by the Principal Rev. Fr. George Thomas. Professor John Jose then took the stage, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of engineering and academia.
Key Highlights:
• Exploration of Engineering Disciplines: Professor John Jose provided an overview of the different engineering disciplines available for students to pursue, including civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and more. He discussed the unique characteristics of each field and the diverse career opportunities they offer.
• Scope and Opportunities: Through engaging presentations and interactive discussions, Professor John Jose shed light on the vast scope of engineering in today's world. He elaborated on the emerging trends, technological advancements, and global opportunities awaiting engineering graduates, inspiring students to consider the endless possibilities within the field.

Professor John Jose provided guidance on selecting the right college, entrance exams, scholarships, and other essential aspects to help students make informed decisions.
A special Q & A session was also conducted towards the end allowing students and parents to seek clarifications and guidance directly from Professor John Jose. The lively exchange of ideas further enriched the learning experience, leaving participants feeling empowered and inspired to embark on their educational journey. The workshop came to an end at around 1.00 pm.
