About The Event
On November 13, 2024, St. Francis De Sales School, Guwahati, played host to an extraordinary event, the MSFS Inter-School National Quiz Competition. This intellectual spectacle brought together bright minds from MSFS institutions across the country, making it a memorable celebration of knowledge, teamwork, and cultural diversity.
Opening Ceremony
The day began around 8.00 am with a solemn Prayer Dance, setting a serene tone for the day. Rev. Fr. George Thomas, the Principal of SFS School, welcomed the gathering with inspiring words, emphasizing the importance of intellectual curiosity and collaborative learning. The distinguished guests and participants who came all the way from different provinces of India, were felicitated, acknowledging their presence and contributions to the event. There were participants (two from each) from total 7 provinces across India who came along with their Teacher-Incharges.
The highlight of the morning was the introduction of the quiz master, Mr. Surya Narayan Prabhakaran, a veteran with over 500 quiz shows to his credit. Known for his engaging style, he has hosted prestigious quizzes for organizations like ONGC, Amul, and the Government of the Netherlands.
Participants from various provinces were introduced, followed by the National Anthem, which concluded the formalities of the opening ceremony. The audience, including students, teachers, and esteemed guests, moved to Mermier Hall, where the quiz began in earnest.
The Quiz Competition
The competition kicked off with participants around 9.30 am demonstrating remarkable knowledge and quick thinking across various topics. The quiz format challenged the contestants on their conceptual clarity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. There were several rounds that took place which were really exciting. After almost many rounds the quiz came to an end around 12.30 pm
Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony which began from around 2.00 pm was a vibrant and celebratory affair. It began with a Bhortal dance, a traditional Assamese performance that captivated the audience and reflected the rich cultural heritage of the host state. The audience was further treated to a stunning performance by the SFS Girls’ Band. Their melodious and disciplined display filled the hall with pride and joy.
The event also featured the presence of Mr. Sandeep Tandon, Regional Head of CBSE Guwahati Region, as the Chief Guest. He shared words of encouragement and emphasized the role of such competitions in fostering a culture of excellence among students.
Prize Distribution
The much-awaited prize distribution segment celebrated the top-performing teams:
Champion: St. Francis De Sales Public School, ICSE, Bengaluru, South West Province (Rs. 50,000, trophy, medals, and certificates)
1st Runner-up: St. Francis De Sales School, Bahalpur, Guwahati Province (Rs. 25,000, trophy, medals, and certificates)
2nd Runner-up: St. Mary’s English School, Kinwat, Nagpur Province (Rs. 15,000, trophy, medals, and certificates)
3rd Runner-up: St. Francis De Sales School, Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam Province (Rs. 10,000, trophy, medals, and certificates)
All participants received mementos as a token of appreciation for their enthusiasm and hard work.
Vote of Thanks and Conclusion
The event concluded around 2.45 pm with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Vice-Principal Rev. Fr. Melvin Parambukattil, expressing gratitude to the organizing team, participants, and guests for making the day a grand success. The ceremony ended on a high note with the singing of the school anthem, symbolizing unity and the pursuit of excellence.
The MSFS Inter-School National Quiz Competition 2024 was not merely a contest but a platform to inspire young minds to embrace learning beyond textbooks.
