About The Event
SFS Guwahati celebrated the 77th Republic Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour on 26th January 2026 at the SFS Block Assembly Ground. The crisp winter morning echoed with pride, discipline, and unity as students, educators, and guests came together to honour the spirit of the Indian Constitution and the values it upholds.
The ceremony began at 8:00 AM with the escorting of the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, Provincial MSFS, by the NCC cadets, a gesture that set a tone of dignity and respect for the event. At 8:05 AM, the anchors, Nimisha Das (Class 7F) and Agastya Dutta (Class 9A) formally commenced the programme, demonstrating confidence and poise beyond their years.
The celebration opened with a soulful prayer song presented by the students, followed by a melodious rendition of “Sare Jahan Se Achcha”, which uplifted the patriotic spirit among all present.
A warm and graceful felicitation of the Chief Guest by the Vice-Principal, Fr. Melvin, took place at around 8:10 AM, followed by an inspiring welcome address by him. The guests present for the occasion were also felicitated, acknowledging their esteemed presence.
One of the most significant moments of the morning was the unfurling of the National Flag by Rev. Fr. George Thomas, accompanied by Fr. Melvin. As the National Anthem resonated through the campus, the gathering stood tall with pride and reverence. The energy soared as the NCC students and the four School Houses marched in synchronised precision, showcasing discipline and teamwork in the ceremonial Republic Day Parade.
Post that, Miss Anushka Roy of Class 9B delivered a powerful and articulate speech on the significance of the day, impressing the audience with her clarity of thought.
The cultural segment added vibrancy to the morning. Students presented two patriotic dance performances, “Maa Tujhe Salaam” and “Har Ghar Tiranga” both of which beautifully depicted love for the motherland through expressive movements and choreography.
The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. George Thomas, addressed the gathering with his insightful message reminding everyone of the responsibilities that come with freedom and the importance of nurturing values, unity, and national pride.
This was followed by a thematic presentation titled “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam: India as One” by the students of Grades 5 to 8 - a thoughtful portrayal of India’s cultural strength and global vision of oneness.
The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks at around 9:00 AM, the School Anthem, and a photography session capturing the essence of the celebration.
The 77th Republic Day Celebration at SFS Guwahati stood as a tribute to the nation and a reminder to all Desalites that citizenship comes with duty, dignity, and a deep love for the country. The programme not only showcased students’ talents but also reinforced the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible, value-driven young citizens.
